Marriage Prayer Conclusion

The 30 days of Marriage Prayers have come to an end.  But these prayers were not meant to be for a one time use.  We would encourage you to pray them over your marriage every month for a year.  A suggestion is to journal the changes in your marriage over the course of the year.

 

Matthew 19:9
But I say to you, whoever leaves his wife for any reason other than immorality, then takes another wife is living in adultery.  And whoever takes a divorced women in marriage is also living in adultery.

{We live in a "throw away" society but that should not include your marriage.  We know that relationships are not easy but your marriage is worth fighting for.}

 

Ephesians 5:31-33

For this reason a man is to leave his father and mother and lovingly hold to his wife, since the two have become joined as one flesh.  Marriage is the beautiful design of the Almighty, a great and sacred mystery - meant to be a vivid example of Christ and his church.  So every married man should be gracious to his wife just as he is gracious to himself.  And every wife should be tenderly devoted to her husband.

Marriage Prayer Day 30

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is large and incredibly patient.  Love is gentle and consistently kind to all.  It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else.  Love does not brag about ones achievements nor inflate it's own importance.  Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek it's own honor.  Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offence.  Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.  Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others.  Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.

Lord thank You for allowing us to see the true picture of love through Jesus.  Help us to take our perceived ideas of what love is and cast them to the side.  We will scour Your word daily to find the true meaning of love.  You love us with a love that has no bounds or conditions.  Help us to use this love as an example of how we love others especially our spouse. Help us to be each other's protector, defending each other with prayer.  Lord we pray Your blessings over our marriage.  May You protect it and may it never fail.

1 Thessalonians 5:18

And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God's perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.

 Lord we want to say thank You and pray for hearts of gratitude.  Your presence brings life to our marriage and overcomes our problems.  Thank You for Your forgiveness, thank You for Your mercy and thank You for Your Grace.  Thank You for the Love You pour out on us in abundance.  We can never earn it but receive it with glad hearts.

Psalm 128:1-2

How joyous are those who love the Lord and bow low before God, ready to obey Him!  Your reward will be prosperity, happiness, and well being.

 Lord thank You for the many blessings You have given us.  As we walk the walk that You have prepared for our marriage, we pray that every day would be filled with Your presence.  We pray that we continue to built our life together by using You and Your word as our foundation.  Lord we pray that You pour out prosperity on us and use us to pour it out on others.

2 Corinthians 10:5-6

We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and breakthrough every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God.  We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

 Today Lord we pray over our marriage.  We pray to remember the seriousness and the sacredness of our vows spoken before You.  We pray that neither of us would allow negative or lustful thoughts to be entertained but that we would immediately exercise Your word and take them captive.  Lord we pray to grow our relationship built on trust and honesty bound in Your love.

 Lord we thank You for the gift of us to each other.  May we never take our marriage for granted.  We ask that You bind us in the power of the Holy Spirit and protect our union.  We pray that we are an example and an influence on others around us, seeking to know You.  We pray that we are excepting of those whom You bring into our lives that challenge us.

Philippians 1:9-10

I continue to pray for your love to grow and increase beyond measure, bringing you into the rich revelation of spiritual insight in all things.  This will enable you to choose the most excellent way of all - becoming pure and without offense until the unveiling of Christ.

 Lord this world wants to pull us in all directions, telling us how to think, what decisions to make and how to act as man and wife.  We pray to hear Your voice and Your word and allow Your truth to mold our marriage.  Lord help us to remember when we first met and the strong love that grew between us.  Help us to work that love into practical things so nothing can divide us.  Lord we place our marriage into Your hands and we pray for the strength and wisdom of Your love into our marriage.

Lord thank You for the gift of communication.  We repent for the times we have used our words to hurt one another.  Please give us wisdom to choose our words wisely and to use them to bring life and increase love.  Let our words be gracious and bring peace and health to the body and soul.

John 15:16-17

You didn't choose me, but I've chosen and commissioned you to go into the world to bear fruit.  And your fruit will last, because whatever you ask of My father, for My sake, He will give it to you!  So this is My parting command; love one another deeply!

 Lord we pray to immerse our marriage into Your word.  We thank You that You have given us each other to love and we thank You for Your generous love.  We pray that our marriage would affect those around us as an example of Your love for Your church.  Help us to live out Your word and love one another deeply.

 Lord we pray to hear Your voice and follow Your path.  Speak to us so we may do Your will.  Help us to recognize Your voice at all times and give us the courage to act when required.  Help us to quiet the noise of our daily lives and it's distractions.  We pray to get into Your presence and honor You with our marriage and as individuals at all times.

Marriage Prayer Day 21

Philippians 4:6-9

Don't be pulled in different directions or worry about a thing.  Be saturated in prayer throughout each day, offering your faith-filled request before God with overflowing gratitude.  Tell Him every detail of your life, then God's wonderful peace that transcends human understanding, will make the answers known to you through Jesus Christ.  So keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind.  And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising Him always. Follow the example of all that we have imparted to you and the God of peace will be with you in all things.

Lord we pray against the lies the enemy uses to create insecurity and doubt in our marriage.  We pray that You keep our thought life healthy and that we would walk in love and commitment to each other.  Lord we need Your love and peace to succeed.  Lord we pray that we would stand firm in our resolve to honor our vows.  We pray that God would make us pure in thought and action, always being faithful to His word and to each other. We pray that we would walk in His righteousness and live with integrity.  And we speak life into our marriage.

Hebrews 13:5

Don't be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God's presence.  For hasn't He promised you, "I will never leave you alone, never! And I will not loosen my grip on your life!"

 Lord we put You first in every area of our lives, including our finances.  We thank You for Your provision and the gifts You have blessed us with.  We pray to use our finances as a means of growing closer to You.  Help us to be wise in our  spending and purchase decisions.  We trust You as the source that meets our needs.  We release control of our desires to You and pray to be content with our finances.

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

 Lord thank You for the plans You have for our marriage, for Your plans are always good.  We know that You want our relationship to flourish and be filled with love and hope.  Help us to keep our eyes on You at all times. Help us to continually seek Your face and Your grace in our life together.  May our marriage be a steady commitment that comes from trusting you.

Lord we know we have an enemy that wants nothing more than to destroy our marriage.  This begins with a slow erosion.  Help us to be ever vigilant and aware of his tactics to cause division between us.  Lord we pray for each other for discernment and strength.  May Your grace and love bind us together in love and peace.  We submit ourselves to You and Your purposes.

Don't be one who is quick to quarrel, for an argument is hard to stop, and you never know how it will end, so don't even start down that road!

Father thank You for being so gentle in the way that You deal with us.  Help us to use that as an example of how we deal with each other.  We pray for strength and self control during any conflicts between us.  We pray that Your joy would fill our hearts and restore our tenderness for each other.  Help us to make You the center of our concerns so we can move ahead in love.

In the same way you received Jesus our Lord and Messiah by faith, continue your journey of faith, progressing further into your union with Him!  Your spiritual roots go deeply into His life as you are continually infused with strength, encouraged in every way.  For you are established in the faith you have absorbed and enriched by your devotion to Him!

 Lord we pray that our spouse would make You their priority in life and that they would seek You first.  May our relationship with You be the most important thing we pursue.  Align our lives and our marriage under You, strengthening our commitment to each other.  We pray against any temptations to sin that we may be facing.  We pray that the Lord would guide our actions, thoughts, words and deeds.  We pray that the Lord would give us clarity of vision to see the devils lies.  We pray that we would recognize our weaknesses and our inability to do battle alone and that we would turn to the Lord for help in keeping our marriage sacred.

And if anyone longs to be wise, ask God for wisdom and He will give it!  He won't see your lack of wisdom as an opportunity to scold you over your failures but He will overwhelm with His generous grace.

We pray for wisdom in any decisions we have to make and we lay them at God's feet.  We pray for our discernment to know God's plans and whether or not our plans line up.   We pray that we are at peace with God's will and direction.  We pray for a  willingness to change if necessary.

Father, Your love and compassion never runs out.  May we deal with each other as a reflection of how You deal with us, in gentleness and forgiveness.  Help us to forgive each other for any hurts and/or harm we have caused each other.  Teach us to flow in a constant state of grace and forgiveness.

Be well balanced and always alert, because your enemy, the devil, roams around incessantly, like a roaring lion looking for it's prey to devour.  Take a decisive stand against him and resist his every attack with strong, vigorous faith.  For you know that your believing brothers and sisters around the world are experiencing the same kinds of troubles you endure.

We pray that the Lord would guard our hearts and minds.  Father we know that the enemy wants nothing more than to destroy our marriage and tear down the plans You have for us.  We pray that You would protect us from the evil one.  And cover our marriage and home in the security of the Holy Spirit. 

Help us to resist the enemy and stand strong in our faith. 

We recognize You are our strength

 Heavenly Father we recognize that at times we rely on our own strength and insight to solve problems in life and in our marriage.  We realize the failure of these attempts. Help us to always rely on your strength and wisdom.  Help us to understand that problems are an opportunity to grow closer to you.

Marriage Prayer Day 1

Welcome to 30 days of prayers for your marriage.  We have been married for 40 years and consider our relationship with each other second only to our relationship with God.  Marriage is an image of God's relationship with (us) his body on earth.  The enemy wants nothing more than to create insecurities in our marriage.  He wants to break down trust and create doubt.  He wants to erode our confidence in each other.  We hope that the next 30 days of prayers will help you find love, strength and healing where it's needed. 

 

Psalm 101:3-4

I refuse to gaze on that which is vulgar.  I despise works of evil people and anything that moves my heart away from you.  I will not let evil hold me in its grip.  Every perverse and crooked way I have put away from my heart, for I will have nothing to do with the deeds of darkness.

 

 

We pray for strength to keep our eyes on you Lord and on each other.  Keep us from the lusts that the world uses as entertainment.  We pray that when things are set before our eyes that are evil we will quickly look away and not take that second glance.  We pray the Lord would give us pure hearts and fill us with His Spirit and flush out all that is not of Him.
