God's Promise Of Mercy

He came to save us, not because of any virtuous deed that we have done but only because of his extravagant mercy.  Titus 3:5 (TPT)
So now we come freely and boldly to where love is enthroned, to receive mercy’s kiss and discover the grace we urgently need to strengthen us in our time of weakness.  Hebrews 5:16  (TPT)

Lord we know that mercy is one of the highest blessings you have to offer.  Sadly today’s society views it as a weakness and prides itself on strength, confidence and independence.  Father we cry out for mercy not only for ourselves but for our loved ones and friends.  May your mercy bring people to a place of forgiveness and a dependence on your grace.  Lord we thank you for the mercy of your Son Jesus who took our place on the cross.  We thank you for your abounding love and kindness.

Amen

Promise of Forgiveness

But if we freely admit our sins when his light uncovers them, he will be faithful to forgive us every time.  God is just to forgive us our sins because of Christ, and he will continue to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1John 1:9 (TPT)

For I will demonstrate my mercy to them and will forgive their evil deeds, and never remember again their sins.
Hebrews 8:12 (TPT)

Lord thank you for your gift of forgiveness.  Your love and mercy overwhelms us in spite of our faults and failures.  We clothe ourselves in your love and we won't allow our emotions to control our actions.  May your word saturate our minds and direct our thoughts.  We understand that there are no levels to your love.  We are all your children and know that your desire is that none of us would perish.

Amen

God's Promise For Setting An Example

So if I'm your teacher and Lord and have just washed your dirty feet, then you should follow the example that I've  set for you and wash one another's dirty feet.  Now do for each other what I have just done for you.
John 13:14-15 (TPT)

Be imitators of God in everything you do, for then you will represent your father as his beloved sons and daughters.  And continue to walk surrendered to the extravagant love of Christ, for he surrendered his life as a sacrifice for us.  His great love for us was pleasing to God, like an aroma of adoration - a sweet healing fragrance.
Ephesians 5:1-2 (TPT)

Heavenly Father thank you for your guidance.  Forgive me for the times that I do not follow your plans and go my own way.  Thank you for gently leading me back to the example you have given me through your son Jesus.  I need your Holy Spirit, strength, wisdom and direction.
Amen

God's Promise of Companionship

Don't be obsessed with money but live content with what you have, for you always have God's presence.  For hasn't he promised you, "I will never leave you alone, never!  And I will not loosen my grip on your life!"
Hebrews 13:5 (TPT)

Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed, says the Lord, who has compassion on you.
Isaiah 54:10 (NIV)

Whatever difficulties and problems you face in life be confident and sure of Him being your companion.  This results in comfort, compassion, calm and His perfect peace.  Our earthly friends may fail us or forsake us, but God will walk with us every step of the way and never leave us alone.

God's Promise Of Truth

For God's word is something to sing about!  He is true to his promises, his word can be trusted, and everything he does is reliable and right.
Psalm 33:4  (TPT)

Moses gave us the law, but Jesus, the Anointed One, unveils truth wrapped in tender mercy.
John 1:17 (TPT)

Lord convict us and let us know when we are wrong.  So that we may come to you to seek forgiveness and mercy and an opportunity to make a correction.  Thank you for the truth of your word and the power of it.  Even though sometimes the truth hurts, we trust you with our lives.

God's Promise Of Power

Never doubt God's mighty power to work in you and accomplish all this.  He will achieve infinitely more than your greatest request, your most unbelievable dream, and exceed your wildest imagination!  He will outdo them all, for his miraculous power continually energizes you.
Ephesians 3:20 (TPT)

For thee kingdom realm of God comes with power, not simply impressive words.
1Corinthians 4:20 (TPT)

We don't have to be subject to sickness, poverty, lack, insufficiency, bad relationships, fear, worry, stress, or anything else that is evil.  His authority is real and when we are saved and born again, it's available to us by faith.  If we don't like the way we are living we can use his power to turn our lives around.

Father, it often seems that might makes right and I stand no chance, but I know your power can overcome any issues that I face. When I am in despair, fill me with faith in your power.

The Promise of God's Guidance

2 Timothy 3:16-17
Every Scripture has been inspired by the Holy Spirit, the breath of God .  It will empower you by it's instruction and correction, giving you the strength to take the right direction and lead you into the path of godliness. Then you will be God's servant, fully mature and perfectly prepared to fulfill any assignment God gives you. (TPT)

Psalm 119:105
Truth's shinning light guides me in my choices and decisions; the revelation of your word makes my pathway clear. (TPT).

Father without you I would wonder aimlessly.  I would be out of focus and distracted.  So I turn to you for guidance and direction.  Here I am Lord, show me the way.  Clear the clutter out of my life and my mind and fill me with your spirit of truth.  Bring me to the path of my salvation and to the footsteps of Christ.  Fill me with peace as I move forward.
Amen

God's Promise Of Courage

So cheer up! Take courage all you who love him.  Wait for him to break through for you, all who trust in him!
Psalm 32:24
(TPT)

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God.  I will strengthen you, yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
Isaiah 41:10
(NKJV)

We will probably never be face to face with live lions like Daniel. Or have to do physical battle with a giant like David.  But we will face fears and adversity that will require the same courage that Daniel and David had.

Lord I have often found myself fearful and in need of courage.  It is then that I remember that my strengthen and salvation come form you.  You have authorized those who belong to you to use your word.  Whom shall I fear?
Amen

God's Promise Of Provision

Promise of God's Provision

2 Corinthians 9:8
Yes, God is more than ready to overwhelm you with every form of grace, so that you will have more than enough of everything - every moment and in every way. He will make you overflow with abundance in every good thing you do.
(TPT)

Philippians 4:19
I am convinced that my God will fully satisfy every need you have, for I have seen the abundant riches of glory revealed to me through the Anointed One, Jesus Christ!
(TPT)

During a recent prayer time Randy envisioned a banquet table full of good things.  And people were filling their plates, taking a small spoon of this and a small helping of something else, sampling the items available. Then there was a loud voice that said "take a full measure."  It was then that Randy realized that the table was full of the provision of God.  He doesn't want us to just sample and come back hungry.  He wants to satisfy our needs.

Thank you Father for meeting every need we have in life.  For you are Jehovah-Jireh, the God who provides.  For we know that you hold everything in your hands and will provide for your children.  Thank you for your abundance of blessings and goodness.

Righteousness

Promise of righteousness

2 Corinthians 5:21
For God made the only one who did not know sin to become sin for us, so that we who did not know righteousness might become the righteousness of God through our union with him.
(TPT)

In the middle of yesterday's prayer time God gave Randy a type of vision.  Now these are rare but have happened before.  He saw a man driving up to the cross of Jesus in a very old, dilapidated, broken down,  rusted out pickup truck.  In the bed of the truck was what appeared to be used tin cans.  There was a foul, rotting stench coming from these cans.  The driver stopped at the left side of the cross and got out.  He was in tattered clothes and appeared to be in as broken down a state as the truck he was driving.  He walked to the back side of the cross and then reappeared on the right side of the cross.  He was totally cleaned up wearing fresh new clothes and driving a gleaming new vehicle.  This vision brought Randy to the point of tears.  There was a revelation of God's goodness.  The broken man exiting the vehicle represented us in need of our Savior.  The tin cans and the rotting stench represented our sins.  Getting out of the truck and walking around that cross was symbolic of leaving our sins at the foot of the cross.  Driving away  in the new clothes and the gleaming vehicle represented being forgiven and wrapped up in God's righteousness. Only God can take our sin and exchange it for glory.

Father there are days we fill unworthy.  But you have promised to cleanse us from all sin and unrighteousness.  You have wiped away our sin and our guilt and made us new.  Your word tells us that as a righteousness person our prayers are powerful and effective.  We seek the truth of your word and the direction of the Holy Spirit.

Salvation

God's Word contains literally thousands of Bible promises waiting to be claimed in faith.  God's promises are available to believers not doubters.  Believing and obeying God are keys to unlocking his promises. God rewards faith not unbelief.  Faith pulls God's promises from the spirit realm to the physical realm.
It's our prayer that your faith and trust in the Lord will be increased as you seek Him to supply your needs. In the following weeks we will be sharing some of God's promises. This is where you start with God's promises.

The promise of salvation
Titus 3:5-6
He came to save us.  Not because of any virtuous deed that we have done but only because of his extravagant mercy.  He saved us, resurrecting us through the washing of rebirth.  We are made completely new by the Holy Spirit, whom he splashed over us richly by Jesus, the Messiah, our life giver.
(TPT)

John 3:16
For this is how much God loved the world He gave his one and only, unique son as a gift.  So now everyone who believes in him will never perish but experience everlasting life.
(TPT)

Salvation Prayer
Father I confess that I have not lived my life for you.  I have been living it for myself.  I need you in my life and I want you in my life.  I acknowledge that your Son Jesus Christ gave his life for me on the cross at Calvary.  I want to receive the forgiveness you have made freely available to me through this sacrifice.  Come into my life now Lord and be my King and my Savior from this day forward.  I want to follow you for the rest of the days of my life.  I ask this in Jesus' name.  Amen

It's not merely the repeating of these words, but it's the commitment in faith that brings salvation.

God's Favor

Today in church we heard an awesome message about "God's Favor".
This got me to thinking about the favor that we have experienced in our lives.
Even before I was saved I was blessed to experience his favor.  I can think of five serious accidents I was in, any one of which could have been fatal. But God's favor spared me.  These are stories for another time. God shows his favor in many ways.
This story is about financial favor.
Years ago Joan and I became faithful in paying our tithes.  We didn't do this for financial gain, we did it to honor God and as an act of worship.   Since we have adhered to the principal of tithing we have never had to experience worrying about our finances.  God is a God of more than enough.  Twelve years ago we were at a Sunday morning service, when our Pastor was led to preach about sowing seed.  In the middle of the sermon he opened up the alter for anyone who wanted to plant financial seed.  Knowing our Pastor like we do, we knew it was a true opportunity to sow into God's Kingdom.  Pastor kept preaching but said that if you were led to sow to just drop your money at the alter.  He was not going to take up another offering.  Wanting to seize this opportunity I opened my wallet.  It was at that time I heard God say, "give everything you have with you."  While looking for some bills to sow I realized I had quit a bit of money with me.  Again I heard, "give it all." Knowing how good God is I emptied my wallet and headed to the alter.  While the money was still fluttering to the ground, God said, "You have just sealed your financial future."   Shortly after this (2008) the country experienced a major recession.  Although some people were experiencing financial panic we were spared.  I took it that this is what God meant when He said, "You have just sealed your financial future."  Fast forward to 2016 and early retirement was looking like a possibility.  Being good stewards of our finances we researched this prospect.  It was then that God reminded me of what He spoke years earlier before my money hit the ground ... that our financial future was sealed.  His favor was not for a single event but for our life time.  We have been retired for years and enjoy every minute of it.    There have been at least 4 opportunities in the past where God has asked us to sow all and we have never hesitated to do so.  If God has asked you for your time, talent or treasure do not be afraid.  For He is faithful.
~ Randy

Psalm 5:12
Lord, how wonderfully you bless the righteous.  Your favor wraps around each one and covers them under your canopy of kindness and joy.
(TPT)

1 Corinthians 1:9
God is forever faithful and can be trusted to do this in you, for he has invited you to co-share the life of his Son, Jesus, the Anointed One, our King!

Relationships

Every once in awhile it's a good idea to take an assessment of your role in  your relationships.  Do you do your part and give or are you a taker and just take whatever you can get?  All relationships require you to give in order to receive from each other. This includes your romantic relationships, family relationships, your friendships and acquaintanceships.  As important as this is in our human relationships, it's even more so in our relationship with God.
Are you one of those people who when life is going good you neglect God because you don't feel you need him?  Or are you one of those people who when trouble strikes you turn away from God because you think he's neglected you?  So many times you hear about the person who has been hurt by their church, a family member, a loved one or life circumstance and they use this as an excuse to turn their backs on God.  How many times have you wanted to use God as a genie?  Letting him out of the bottle to grant your wishes and then returning him to the bottle till you need him again some day.  We need to cultivate our relationship with God through all circumstances both good and bad.  God's love is unconditional.  But it's up to you to receive it and return it.  Don't let your daily life be your priority without Him.  But let Him be your day's priority.  No relationship can survive without communication ... so talk to Him and listen.  Read His word and listen.  Gather with the body of Christ, pray and listen.
The most important response you can give to God is to receive His Son Jesus as your Lord and Savior.  If you have not done this - today is the day of salvation.

For he says, I listened to you at the time of my favor.  And the day when you needed salvation, I came to your aid.  So can't you see?  Now is the time to respond to his favor!  Now is the day of salvation!
2 Corinthians 6:2
(TPT)

There is no power above us or beneath us - no power that could ever be found in the universe that can distance us from God's passionate love, which is lavished upon us through our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One!
Romans 8:39

God's Protection

Sometimes I like to take a trip back in time and revisit the things God has done for me.  Even before I was saved and a follower of Jesus, His love protected me.  This story takes place in the late 70's.  Having experienced a failed marriage I decided to reward myself with a new car.  I spotted a shinny blue Corvette and made it mine.  After leaving the dealership I headed to the first drive through and bought a six pack of beer.  I continued the pattern of drinking and driving throughout the day, even though common sense told me it was stupid. By evening I was primed up and ready to go party.  By midnight I was finding it hard to function and went home to sleep it off.  Before going to bed I had to look out the window at my shinny new toy and couldn't resist one more drive.  I ended up at a local bar until I heard last call ... closing time.  A friend and myself decided to get one last drink and go for a ride.  A few minutes later traveling at a high rate of speed, I lost control and failed to negotiate a curve.  The fiberglass exploded as the car hit the ditch and flipped through the air three times.  The car came to rest upside down in the ditch.  There was no escape and that's when fear and panic set in.  Realizing we were uninjured finding a way out was a priority.  I'll never forget the sounds of the hissing and popping of the hot car parts that were left.  That's when I became aware that gasoline was pouring in on us.  Fearful of an explosion we were kicking at the windows and doors trying to make an escape without success.  Looking back it's almost as if an angel opened the passenger door and let us crawl out of the wreckage.  Early that morning after assessing the situation and looking in the mirror, I noticed my scalp was covered in tar and bits of gravel.  It was then I realized that as that car with the T-tops blown off, slid down the road upside down, God protected me.  Fractions of an inch further and I would have crushed my skull.  I would like to say that I fell on my knees and got saved at this moment but I did not.  Although my life did begin to change.  God was drawing me in.  I'm ashamed of some of the things I've done in my life, but amazed at how God turned those things around and used them for my benefit.  After three years and a few more wakeup calls I did receive Jesus as my Lord and Savior.  I've been following him ever since.

Note:  We were not wearing seat belts and yes I did get charged with a DWI.

God's protection is not a magic force field that keeps us from harm.  But it does work in ways we do not understand.  Amen!

So we are convinced that every detail of our lives is continually woven together to fit into God's perfect plan of bringing good into our lives, for we are his lovers who have been called to fulfill his designed purpose.
Romans 8:28

The Vintage Mailbox

In this self-centered world, it’s hard to keep a romantic relationship going strong. Remember it's the little things that count.  What would happen if communication with your spouse was a little more romantic?  How often do you send a love note to your spouse?  ... not often enough (if ever) and that's sad. I know, we’re not in high school anymore... but all the more reason that nobody would expect to open an envelope and find a love note or a card with "I'm praying for you", “I miss you” or “I love you” written on it. It’s easy, and the notes or cards can be left anywhere to surprise your spouse. I know from experience how amazing it feels to have your spouse do something like this for you.  We have a vintage mailbox and Randy and I take turns leaving each other a love note or card in it.  To tell you the truth it sets my heart a-flutter just wondering when I might find my next mail delivery.

Proverbs 25:11
Winsome words spoken at just the right time are as appealing as apples gilded in gold and surrounded in silver.
(TPT)

Father help us to remember how important it is to speak words in love.  Help us to keep the passions of marriage stirred up.  Help us to remember that you have given us to each other as gifts.  We pray that we choose our words carefully and graciously speak life into each other. Help us to be still and listen when wisdom requires us to do so.

Trust

Being a Pilot, I was making a flight that I had made many times before.  I was out over a large body of water making a slow sweeping turn and I lost my horizontal line of reference.  I could no longer tell where the sky ended and the water began.  At first I felt a slight state of confusion and then fear set in.  I knew the proper procedure was to look at and trust the planes instruments but I kept trying to figure things out on my own.  As a state of panic started, I could no longer feel the plane's movement.  I allowed the onset of spatial disorientation.  Reverting back to my training I fixed my eyes on the planes control panel and trusted what I was seeing.  A calm began to set in. This flight ended safely because I put my trust in my training.
How many times do we do this in our spiritual walk.  We  take our eyes off Jesus and just like Peter we begin to sink.  We let fear steal our joy and cause us to not carry out God's assignment for our lives.  It's vital that we trust His instruments for life.  They are His word, prayer, praise and worship and keeping holy the Lord's day. You will experience trials in life. But if you allow the Holy Spirit to train you in God's ways and put your trust in Him, His joy will be your strength and His peace will fill you to overflowing.

Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and the perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning it's shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:2
(NIV)

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.
Proverbs 3:5
(NIV)

Lord help us to at all times put our trust in you.
We will keep our eyes focused on you and trust not in ourselves.
Lord your ways are perfect and we want your will to be done.

Am I Good Enough?

For if you embrace the truth, it will release
true freedom into your lives.
John 8:32
(TPT)

You know someone and you think she's your best friend.  You think she's giving you good advice.  She has a hidden agenda.  Her intentions are to destroy your faith, your confidence and your relationships.  She's here to dismantle your dreams and even God's purpose for you.  She can make you doubt yourself and all you know as truth. If you give her the chance she will put you in bondage.  She wants to control your every thought, word and action.  Believe me she's not your friend!  Who is she ... INSECURITY.  She's dangerous and it's time to say goodbye to her.

Remember ... God's truth is and always will be greater than our insecurity.
God accepts you (1John 3:1)
God will not leave you or let you go (Romans 8:39)
God is your defender (Exodus 14:14)
It is God who opens doors for you (Psalm 37:23)

Lord, help me break free from the bondage of insecurity.  I confess I've listened to the lies of the enemy more than I've listened to your words of truth.  Lord, help me understand I am loved, I'm perfectly and wonderfully made and accepted by You just as I am.  Help me to discern when I'm listening to lies instead of Your truth.  Help me to fix my eyes on You.  Help me to focus on all You have done for me.

Forgiveness

You might find yourself being hurt or offended by a friend,
family member or loved one.

A wise person demonstrates patience, for mercy means holding your tongue.  When you are insulted, be quick to forgive and forget it, for you are virtuous when you overlook an offense.
Proverbs 19:11
(TPT)

When you have been hurt and/or offended by someone and you let it sprout in your heart, bitterness and resentment take root.  It will grow in your conscious and unconscious thoughts and if you let it, it will even influence your actions.

Lay aside bitter words, temper tantrums, revenge, profanity and insults.  But instead be kind and affectionate toward one another.  Has God graciously forgiven you?  Then graciously forgive one another in the depths of Christ's love.
Ephesians 4:31-32
(TPT)

Lord so many times we feel entitled to hold on to our hurts caused intentionally or unintentionally by another.  Your word teaches us over and over how blessed we are when we forgive and don't allow our being offended to take up real estate in our lives.  Your word and Christ example on the cross teaches us the enormous importance of forgiveness.  Help us to forgive, forget and move on.

FEAR

The word "fear" and the terms "fear not" and "do not be afraid" are mentioned in the Bible numerous times.  Yet how many times do we find ourselves gripped and paralyzed by fear.

I can remember being a little boy about pre-school age and going to the court house with my dad to get a title transferred.  Upon entering the building there was a guard, a deputy sheriff.  For some reason the sight of this man, seeming to me to be larger than life in his imposing uniform filled me with fear.  So instead of following my dad to the title office I walked off in another direction and got lost in the building, setting off another wave of fear.  So you can imagine my relief when my dad found me and comforted me, explaining that the officer was a friendly man and not to be afraid.
How many times in life has the enemy caused us to fear and shrink back from God's plans.  The enemy uses lies as one of his tactics.  Fear itself is a lie because if God is for us who can be against us.  We all experience things that want to cause us fear.  It could be health issues, finances, jobs, relationships and real or imaginary phobias and the list goes on.  But the fact remains, the word of God says "Fear Not" and "Do Not Be Afraid".  Are these words of comfort or God's commands?  For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, do not fear; I will help you. (Isaiah 41:13) (NIV)  If you allow your fears to grip you, you will view them as King Kong, an imposing creature several stories tall, climbing the Empire State Building of your life.  But in reality the movie monster was only three and a half feet tall.  If you have accepted and know Jesus you are authorized to use the power of His name.  And in His name there is no place for fear.  Now may God, the inspiration and fountain of hope, fill you to overflowing with unattainable joy and perfect peace as you trust in Him.  And may the power of the Holy Spirit continually surround your life with His super abundance until you radiate with hope! (Romans 15:13) (TPT)

Marriage Prayer Conclusion

The 30 days of Marriage Prayers have come to an end.  But these prayers were not meant to be for a one time use.  We would encourage you to pray them over your marriage every month for a year.  A suggestion is to journal the changes in your marriage over the course of the year.

Matthew 19:9
But I say to you, whoever leaves his wife for any reason other than immorality, then takes another wife is living in adultery.  And whoever takes a divorced women in marriage is also living in adultery.
(TPT)

{We live in a "throw away" society but that should not include your marriage.  We know that relationships are not easy but your marriage is worth fighting for.}

Ephesians 5:31-33
For this reason a man is to leave his father and mother and lovingly hold to his wife, since the two have become joined as one flesh.  Marriage is the beautiful design of the Almighty, a great and sacred mystery - meant to be a vivid example of Christ and his church.  So every married man should be gracious to his wife just as he is gracious to himself.  And every wife should be tenderly devoted to her husband.
(TPT)

{Men and women, husband and wife are equal before God.  We need to treat each other with equal love and respect.}

Mark 10:6-7
But from the beginning God created male and female.  For this reason a man will leave his parents and be wedded to his wife.
(TPT)

{God's word is very clear that marriage is to be between one man and one woman.}

Marriage Prayer Day 30

1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Love is large and incredibly patient.  Love is gentle and consistently kind to all.  It refuses to be jealous when blessing comes to someone else.  Love does not brag about ones achievements nor inflate it's own importance.  Love does not traffic in shame and disrespect, nor selfishly seek it's own honor.  Love is not easily irritated or quick to take offence.  Love joyfully celebrates honesty and finds no delight in what is wrong.  Love is a safe place of shelter, for it never stops believing the best for others.  Love never takes failure as defeat, for it never gives up.
(TPT)

Lord thank You for allowing us to see the true picture of love through Jesus.  Help us to take our perceived ideas of what love is and cast them to the side.  We will scour Your word daily to find the true meaning of love.  You love us with a love that has no bounds or conditions.  Help us to use this love as an example of how we love others especially our spouse. Help us to be each other's protector, defending each other with prayer.  Lord we pray Your blessings over our marriage.  May You protect it and may it never fail.

Marriage Prayer Day 29

1 Thessalonians 5:18
And in the midst of everything be always giving thanks, for this is God's perfect plan for you in Christ Jesus.
(TPT)

Lord we want to say thank You and pray for hearts of gratitude.  Your presence brings life to our marriage and overcomes our problems.  Thank You for Your forgiveness, thank You for Your mercy and thank You for Your Grace.  Thank You for the Love You pour out on us in abundance.  We can never earn it but receive it with glad hearts.

Marriage Prayer Day 28

Psalm 128:1-2
How joyous are those who love the Lord and bow low before God, ready to obey Him!  Your reward will be prosperity, happiness, and well being.

Lord thank You for the many blessings You have given us.  As we walk the walk that You have prepared for our marriage, we pray that every day would be filled with Your presence.  We pray that we continue to built our life together by using You and Your word as our foundation.  Lord we pray that You pour out prosperity on us and use us to pour it out on others.
